Upright: a starting interpretation

Listen with empathy and keep healthy boundaries around emotional care. The keywords empathy, emotional boundaries describe a theme to examine in your present situation. Compare that theme with something you have actually noticed; it need not explain every part of your question.

Reversed: a question to explore

Empathy may be absorbing another person's feelings at the expense of your own boundaries.

A reversal can suggest an inward, blocked or overemphasized theme. It does not automatically mean the opposite of the upright card. Decide whether it fits the question and the position you chose.

A question for your journal

How can I care without making every feeling my responsibility?

Bring it into a spread

Offer specific support while saying clearly what you can and cannot provide.

Choose your positions before drawing. Use Situation / Obstacle / Next step to keep the meaning connected to your question. Your own observations can differ from these notes.
