Preview of Cardloom's one-card journal worksheet, with space for observations, an interpretation, a small action and a follow-up
Your first impression belongs here, too.

Two ways to begin.

01 / ONE CARD

A daily observation

Note your question, the card, what you see, what the reference suggests, and one small action. Come back later to record what actually happened.

02 / THREE CARDS

A spread with a thread

Use Situation / Obstacle / Next step, or name your own positions. Read the connections between the cards instead of treating each one as a separate answer.

How to use the template

  1. Choose A4 or US Letter. Open the downloaded PDF in a PDF reader that supports forms, or print it at actual size.
  2. Write a specific, open question about something you can observe or influence. Name each position before you draw.
  3. Record the card and orientation. Describe a detail you notice before looking up a meaning.
  4. Compare a reference meaning with your own situation, then choose one proportionate action.
  5. Save your PDF on your own device. Return after a few days to record what changed, including anything that did not fit.

Some mobile PDF previews do not save form fields. Use a compatible PDF reader and check your saved copy, or print and write by hand. PDF entries stay wherever you choose to save them; filling the downloaded file does not send your words to Cardloom.

A filled-in three-card example

An invented learning example. These cards illustrate reflection, not a forecast.

Question: What would help me begin a small creative project this week?

Situation / The Magician, upright

I already have a camera and an hour on Saturday. The tools on the card remind me to use what is available instead of shopping for more equipment.

Obstacle / Eight of Pentacles, reversed

I keep polishing a plan without practising. Here I read the reversal as effort losing its purpose; another reader might notice something different.

Next step / The Fool, upright

Try one small, reversible experiment: take five photos on a familiar route. Curiosity fits the question; ignoring real risks would not.

Follow-up, three days later

I took the photos and enjoyed the walk. One good image was enough. The practical limit helped more than the symbolism, so next time I will set the limit first.

Paper, a PDF, or your browser?

The PDFs give you a reusable worksheet. Cardloom's online journal lets you save digital draws or cards from your physical deck, add personal notes and return to a follow-up. Online entries stay in this browser's local storage; they do not automatically sync between devices. Export a backup before clearing browser data.

Start with a useful question

Try “What can I notice about this choice?” or “What is one small next step?” Keep observations separate from guesses. A spread does not establish another person's thoughts or guarantee an outcome.
