Make sense of a three-card spread

A spread gives each card a role. Choose the positions first so you can interpret your own physical draw with a clear structure.

Give each position a job

Try Situation, Obstacle, Next step. Situation asks what deserves attention now. Obstacle explores a tension, assumption, or practical limit. Next step invites a small action you can choose. These positions support reflection; they do not declare an unavoidable future.

Read each card in its position

Draw three cards from your deck and enter them in order. For each card, note one detail, a possible meaning, and how it relates to its position. A difficult-looking card in Next step might invite you to address a problem, rest, or revise a plan.

Connect the cards without forcing a story

Look for a shared suit, a repeated idea, or a useful contrast. Write a short interpretation that includes all three positions. If a card does not fit yet, leave a question in your notes. A reading can be incomplete and still useful.

Choose one next step

Translate the spread into something modest and observable. “Ask for clarification tomorrow” is easier to review later than “Become more aligned.” Your interpretation can evolve after you act.

Try it for yourself

Check your understanding

When should you decide the spread positions?

Before drawing or entering the cards. Choosing positions first gives each card a consistent role in your interpretation.

One card does not seem to fit. What can you do?

Record the uncertainty and revisit it later. An open question preserves your honest response and gives you something useful to review.
